I don't hold with all this remember-Reagan-for-his-greatness crap, but I sure would like a day off. So I'll be observing the national day of mourning for Ray Charles tomorrow. Will you? He was a brilliant musician who overcame adversity to become a seminal figure in his genre and an international star. I think that's a better legacy than the Iran-Contra affair. You're so right. Ray was a man to mourn for many a week. Ray-gun didn't deserve anything more than a bit of regret over his Alzheimers.

Your Mom and I saw Ray and the Raylettes once in Portland - he could work any crowd anywhere.
